“9th Japan-U.S. Digital Innovation Hub Workshop” on July 20
At the 9th Japan-U.S. Digital Innovation Hub Workshop held at Sophia University on July 20, more than 100 participants engaged in lively discussions throughout the day. Fifteen university executives from seven U.S. institutions, including Ohio State University (OSU), the University of Maryland (UMD), Arizona State University (ASU), and Johns Hopkins University (JHU), participated. Given the timing of the Trump administration’s progress in U.S.-Japan tariff negotiations, it was unfortunate that two senior U.S. government officials canceled their participation at the last minute. However, we believe this is only temporary and that U.S.-Japan relations will continue to deepen in the future. As I mentioned in my closing remarks at the conference, I hope that this Japan-U.S. Digital Hub Workshop will contribute to strengthening industry-academia-government collaboration in the digital field between Japan and the United States in this new era.
