September trip to Washington, DC

I had preliminary meetings with Washington officials and others regarding the 8th Japan-U.S. Digital Innovation & Advanced Technology Workshop to be held at Ohio State University on September 11-12, and also exchanged views on the coming U.S. presidential election in November.

For nearly 10 years since I was advisor to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), I have been pursuading to university officials in Japan and the U.S. about the importance of collaboration in science and technologies, and now that business and government officials in both contries are also involved, we are finally moving in a major direction. Next year’s workshop will be held in Japan.

I have been a member of the Cosmos Club in Washington, D.C. since 1990, and until COVIT19, at least four times a year for over 35 years everytime I stayed in Cosmos Club. I exchanged views with my friends and others there. Cosmos Club is now my second home.
